Our Chickens
Our Chickens are more pets than livestock. They get treats like macaroni noodles, oatmeal, and rice. Jimmy says that with all the money we put into them, their eggs are probably worth $25.00 a dozen. Luckily for our friends and family, we give them away for free!

We have the following breeds of chickens: (Scroll down to see pictures)
Golden Laced Wyandotte (2 pullets, 1 rooster)
Speckled Sussex (3 pullets)
Ameraucana (These aren't really Ameraucanas since they lack the traits of the breed, they are Easter Eggers) (4 pullets, 1 rooster)
Barred Rock (3 pullets)
Production Black (1 pullet)
Rhode Island Red (3 pullets)
Deleware (2 pullets)

Golden Laced Wyandotte (2 pullets, 1 rooster): Brown Egg Layers

These are both Fred, our GLW rooster. He has great coloring.

This is one of our GLW pullets. Both of our pullets have pretty good markings for being pet quality. They all came from Meyer Hatchery.
Speckled Sussex (4 pullets): (Brown Egg Layers)

These are pictures of the three pullets we got from Meyer Hatchery. They have bright white speckles. The SS we got from Ideal has less prominent white spots.
Easter Eggers (4 pullets, 1 rooster): Blue/Green Egg Layers

All of our Easter Eggers (these are listed as Ameracuanas, but are not true-to-breed) came from Ideal Hatchery. The last picture is Barney, our EE rooster. He's been looking a little rough all winter, probably from fighting for chicks.
Barred Rock (3 pullets)
Two of our Barred Rocks came from Meyer Hatchery. (The two shown above) I like to get near them when they're laying their eggs because they throw the biggest fit! Our third Barred Rock came from Ideal Hatchery. She's not as grouchy in the nest. (yet)
Production Black (1 pullet): (White egg layer)

This one we call "Blackie". (We're oh-so original) She's all comb and tail feathers. She came from Ideal Hatchery.
Rhode Island Red (3 pullets)

Two of our Rhode Island Reds came from Meyer Hatchery (one of which is shown above). They are great egg layers. One of them always lays an egg before I get out to turn the light on at 7:00am.
Deleware (2 pullets): Brown Egg Layer.

One of these two we called "Dum Dum" for a while because she wasn't the brightest. The other chickens would eat treats out of your hands, but Dum Dum would somehow miss the treats and peck your finger. Maybe her depth perception is off.
They both came from Meyer Hatchery.
Brown Leghorn (1 pullets): White Egg Layer.

This chick came from Ideal Hatchery. She is a lot like Blackie (above) because she's all tail feathers and comb. Her lazy comb has gotten her the nickname of "Floppy".
Put them all together and we have three different egg colors:

(And yes, the green eggs taste just like the other eggs)
